An interactive hypertext narrative created in Twine that explores the themes of digital relationships.
00 About
Created as the final project for my digital literature studies class, Lost Love is an interactive digital narrative built in Twine that immerses users in the experience of navigating a lost phone. Written in second person, the story unfolds as the reader explores text messages, social media feeds, reminders, and other digital traces to uncover the life and relationships of the phone’s owner.
While initially appearing to follow a typical love story, the narrative shifts to reveal a deeper commentary on toxic relationships, digital identity, and the isolating effects of modern communication. Inspired by research on youth and digital media, as well as the concept of "screenagers," this project critically examines how personal identities are itemized through mobile technology and how constant connectivity shapes interpersonal relationships.
In addition to exploring digital storytelling, Lost Love also serves as a study in user interface design, recreating a mobile experience through text-based interactions in a minimalist format reminiscent of early hypertext fiction.
